Portland, OR

The day is once again a lazy one. Amy was long gone by the time I woke up, and my only real morning activity was to eat one of yesterday’s turkey sandwiches.

It was warm and sunny outside, so I decide to go through downtown for a wander, and just to get out of the house. I didn’t do anything in particular, just wandered around. When Amy got home we went to an event called “First Thursday”. This is where the art galleries and community in the Pearl District stay open a little later for people to wander through, have some wine and nibblies and act arty. As the name suggests this happens only on the first Thursday of each month. First Thursday covers about nine blocks, and is absolutely packed.

We stopped for a cocktail afterwards before heading to a restaurant called Jakes, which is famous throughout the US for steaks and seafood (and another of Amy’s liquor accounts). We sat outside and enjoyed the warm weather and do plenty of people watching.  Good food. Good wine. Good company. Life is good!
