Other Shows & Concerts Pre 1992

1979 - Mi-Sex @ Long Reef Beach
1988 - Sydney Symphony Orchestra @ Opera House
1988 - Cats @ Her Majesty's Theatre

What I remember (in 2024)...
Walked down to Long Reef Beach with Mum from the house in Collaroy.
Unsure of the exact date, but it was before K was born.  Assume it was summer time, being at the beach.
We left early as the crowd started getting a bit out of hand.  I remember walking away and being able to see the stage from behind.  So much shit was being thrown at the stage.

The Symphony and Cats were 2 separate school excursions for Year 10 music.  I did fall asleep during the the Symphony, but I did really enjoy Cats.

Red Hot Chili Peppers, Hard Ons & Mantissa @ Hordern Pavilion

What I remember (in 2024)...
The show was postponed from 16 May 1992, when John Frusciante quit the band mid-tour in Japan.  It was moved to 10 October 1992.  Original Tickets remained valid.
Went with Luvvo, Steve and Butch.
Tried to go to the NSWRL Headquarters for a drink beforehand, but they wouldn't let us in because Butch had dyed pink and blue hair.
The Hordern was packed for the Chili Peppers.  From the first note, the 4 of us were separated, crossing paths briefly in the giant mosh pit through out the show, before getting back together in the end.

Midnight Oil & Roy & HG @ The Enmore Theatre

What I remember (in 2024)...
Roy & HG were not well received.  People didn't want to laugh, they just wanted the Oils.  I was bummed.  I loved Roy & HG.
Luvo, Kern, Rachel and I were in seats on the balcony.  The view was not good.  When Peter Garrett came to the front of the stage we couldn't see him.
Midnight Oil had been my favorite band all through high school and this was 2 from 2 concerts that I wasn't super impressed with.

Big Day Out @ Sydney Showgrounds

Nirvana Setlist Big Day Out Sydney 1992 1992, Nevermind

What I remember (in 2024)...
Went with Benno.  Caught the train down and back from the Coast.
Like every other individual on the day, I wore my Nevermind t-shirt.
Day started at midday at the Skate Stage to see the Village Idiots (12-12.45).
Smudge on the same stage (1.15-2).
You Am I also on the Skate Stage (2.30-3.15).
Moved over to Stage 2 for the Falling Joys (3.30-4.30).
Left early to head into the Hordern for the Beasts of Bourbon. (4-5)
Next was Cosmic Psychos on the Stake Stage, though they were advertised to play last on that stage.
Back into the Hordern early for Nirvana (7-8).  It felt like everyone at the show (10,000 people) were packed into the 6,000 capacity venue.  Was ragdolled around the building the whole set.  Security fired water cannons from the front of stage to cool everyone off.
Afterwards, everyone collapsed over by Stage 2 while the Hard-Ons tore it up.  Henry Rollins joined them about half way though.  I'd never heard of him, but crowd loved him - and so did I.  Would be the start of a mini obsession with him.
Ratcat followed on the same stage, outside it was now dark and a bit cooler.  Saw Krist from Nirvana up the back watching Ratcat.
Left them early to head back inside for the Violent Femmes.  While Nirvana was wild and crazy, Femmes were mellow and a ton of fun.
Bought a t-shirt, with the Big Day Out logo on the front, but no bands listed on the back.

What I remember (in 2024)...
I caught a train down from the Central Coast with Lucas, Steve and Butch.  Train got delayed, so we thought we were going to miss the show.  Fortunately the band was late as well.
Was flicking through the CDs in the store, when Brian Ritchie stood beside me and started playing.  The band were right in front of me.
