What I remember (in 2024)

Went on my own.

The night after silverchair, this was an afternoon/early evening show.

I went because it was supposed to be the last ever show at the Hordern.  They had already moved the Easter Show, out the OLympic site, and were going to build Fox Studios in the area.

Can't remember why I didn't see Frenzal Rhomb or Grinspoon.  Maybe they were the last 2 bands, and I was done.

What I remember (in 2024)

Went with Roberta.

Not my favorite silverchair show.  Most songs were of the new album, Freak Show, which I didn't like as much as Frogstomp.  But you could see they were trying to move on from the album, as they didn't even play tomorrow.

Midnight Oil & Front End Loader @ Selina's

What I remember (in 2024)

Went on my own.

Selina's was packed for the Oils.

Midnight Oil had a raffle wheel, which they'd spin, and whatever song it landed on, they played.

It was a wild, sweaty crowd.

Easily the best Midnight Oil show I'd seen at that point.

Went with Roberta, K, and her friend Luke.  K & Luke stayed at our place in Coogee.

Girls & Boys in the main set was a known favorite.

Parklife during encore was great, but Song 2 to end the night was a blast.

Henry Rollins @ Enmore Theatre

What I remember (in 2024)

Went with Brooke, Lewy, Robbie & Darv (and probably others)

Henry told hilarious stories for 3 hours, with not so much as a drink of water.

Livid @ Brisbane Showgrounds

What I remember (in 2024)

Went and stayed with Robbie & Linda, who lived within walking distance of the Showgrounds in Fortitude Valley.  Their friend Katina was there that weekend as well.

Damien Lovelock did a spoken word set.  Told an awesome story about surfing in Hawaii with Pam Burridge.  He had been reporting on an event for 2MMM and didn't take any of his own surfing stuff.  He borrowed a pair of pink Speedos and had to walk past a bunch of locals sitting in their cars watching people surf.  To get into the water, he and Pam had to jump off a concrete wall and have the backwash drag them out. Pam timed her jump perfectly.  Damien was a second behind her, but didn't catch the backwash.  He then spent the next 30 minutes trying to paddle out, and just kept getting pounded.  Finally he gave up and caught a wave from where he was, but there was no beach to land on, just an 8 foot concrete wall, which he hit and scraped down.  Eventually he got out and walked back to his car, past the locals again.  Big Hawaiian men who had fallen out of the back of their cars, they were laughing so hard.

I remember just feeling pure joy watching Devo.

Went alone days before heading to Brisbane to see them again at Livid.

It's Dinosaur Jr.  It was painfully loud, and back in the days when I didn't worry about earplugs.

Took a step back to go to the bar while watching Custard and accidently stepped on Chris Bellew, of PoTUSA, who was watching in the crowd.

Went on my own.

Weird vibe going in.  We had just finished watching the coverage of the funeral of Princess Diana, so there was a certain lull in the crowd.

In contrast, the Blues Explosion just blasted out energy and got pepole into it.

What I remember (in 2024)

Went with Roberta and a bunch of UNSW people, as Chritian, one of their group, was performing.

Was an intense show, that I didn't really understand.

Melvins & Cosmic Psychos @ The Metro

What I remember (in 2024)

Went on my own.

Never thought I'd get to see the Melvins.

Cosmic Psychos billed as headliners, but they switched out at different venues and Melvins headlined this show.
