Def Fx @ Bar On The Hill

What I remember (in 2024)...
Not many people in the audience and people were stand-offish.
Uni Bar was doing $2 Tooheys Reds.
Was with a guy from Terrigal who was doing the same course.
I was taken aback by this wildly dancing, Kylie Minogue-looking, Jane's Addiction t-shirt wearing lead singer playing heavy dance music (Fiona Horne).
Def Fx had so few songs they had to play a few twice in order to fill in their time allocation.

Midnight Oil & Neil Murray & The Rainmakers @ Sydney Entertainment Centre

Midnight Oil Setlist Sydney Entertainment Centre, Sydney, Australia 1990, Blue Sky Mining Tour

What I remember (in 2024)...
Midnight Oil were my all time favorite band up until this point.
The concert landed in the middle of 2 HSC exams that were 10 days apart.
I remember being with Lucas (it was his 18th), Steve, BJ, Gav and Luvvo.  Probably others as well.
Went to the pub just outside the Entertainment Centre before the show.  Before the days of photo IDs as most of us were under age.
We were in seats on the first level as far away from the stage as possible.
I'd hyped myself up so much, that I was let down.  They played mostly Diesel & Dust and Blue Sky Mining.  I wanted the older stuff.
Bought a t-shirt.  Peter Garrett playing a harmonica and lightning on the front, tour dates on the back.

1st concert without parents.
Drove down with Robbie.  Can't remember who else was there.
I thought Nick Barker & The Reptiles were awesome.  Johnny Diesel & The Injectors then came on and killed it.  They were the biggest band around at the time.
Bought a Nick Barker & The Reptiles shirt.  My first concert shirt.

What I remember (in 2024)...

Chanted " We want our balls back!" after beach balls were played with during rain interruptions, and the West Indies had minimal work to do afterwards to win.

Match details
Toss: Australia, who chose to bat
Result: Australia 4/236 (38 overs).  West Indies 2/111 (13.2 overs).  West Indies won by 8 wickets with 4.2 overs to spare (under Duckworth/Lewis Method)

Australia vs New Zealand @ SCG

What I remember (in 2024)...
1st ever cricket match.
Went with Uncle Rob & Michael
Sat in the Hill Stand, but Michael and I were down on the boundary for the whole match.
Kim Hughes picked up nuts and bolts off the field and gave them to Michael.
Rodney Marsh breaking a bat off Lance Cairns bowling.
Geoff Howard copping it while fielding by the boundary. ("Hello Howard.....How are you?")
Australia hit a ball to the boundary and a spectator jumped the fence and threw it back to the keeper.  Australia only ran 2 and the umpire did not signal 4.  It cost Australia the game.  (However this was not reported in the next day's paper, so I could well be wrong).

Match details
Toss: New Zealand, who chose to bat
Result: New Zealand 8/220 (50 overs).  Australia 7/219 (50 overs).  New Zealand won by 1 run.
Players of the Match: Jeffrey Wright (New Zealand)

Abba @ Sydney Showgrounds

What I remember (in 2024)...
This is my 1st concert.
Tickets were for my 4th birthday.
Went with Mum & Aunty Trish.
Wore my Abba socks.
I remember standing on a chair, but don't remember any of the show.
Had to leave as soon as it was finished because I was scared of the fireworks.
