After the first Big Day Out in 1992, where Violent Femmes and Nirvana headlined, there was never a doubt whether I'd go the following year.
A few extra people and a more international line up, but a wild day. I got to see the Hard Ons with Jerry A, Sonic Youth, Beasts Of Bourbon, Iggy Pop, Helmet, Def FX, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Tumbleweed, You Am I, Headache, Mudhoney, Front End Loader and Daisygrinders.
From what I remember, 17 years later, I had a great day. Was stoked to finally see Sonic Youth. Iggy was incredible (including an all-star version of "I Wanna Be Your Dog). Mudhoney were amazing (right in the middle of my love of grunge) Hard Ons followed up their previous years exploits with Henry Rollins with an equally impressive set with Jerry A of Poison Idea. Helmet ripped the tops off everyone's heads. I became a Nick Cave fan that day. And Tumbleweed were the best of the Aussie bands - but that goes without saying.
I don't think I had started my "go to a concert, buy a shirt" phase yet. So the shirt below was actually not an official shirt, but one I picked up as an after thought outside for about $10.
